The Artist in You
For most of us, the word ‘art’ conjures up images of oil paintings on a wall in a museum. But art is more than what is contained in a building—art is everywhere in our life, and a part of our life.
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what art is.
Famous Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy stated: “Art is the activity by which a person, having experienced an emotion, intentionally transmits it to others.”
Simply put, art is how one views the world: you interpret what you see or feel into a piece that expresses your views.
So, art can be anything—a painting, a drawing, a photograph, a song, a dance, or even some text. And it can be inspired by everything that you see, touch, smell, or hear. As long as your creation enriches your life, and the lives around you, you have created art!
Here at the studio, our space is an artistic expression in itself. Now, we have transformed it into a mini art gallery—our walls are adorned with the prints of Ian Damien.
Ian has recreated well-known images in his own style, and fans of the Game of Thrones to series will be delighted to know that there’s even one of Emilia Clarke!
We have shown you some photos of his prints, but they are best experienced in real life. So the next time that you are in our studio for lessons, pause in front of Ian’s prints and take in their artistic expression.
